Description: Job Posting Title: Communications Specialist, College of Fine Arts—-Hiring Department: College of Fine Arts—-Position Open To: All Applicants—-Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40—-FLSA Status: Exempt—-Earliest Start Date: Immediately—-Position Duration: Expected to Continue—-Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS—-Job Details:PurposeDevelops and executes digital content strategy across College of Fine Arts digital platforms, including web, social media channels, email newsletters and other channels, ensuring content is coordinated, relevant and aligned with the college’s strategic goals and communications strategies and priorities.ResponsibilitiesContent Strategy and Creation: Plans, develops, and publishes engaging and audience-centered content on the college’s channels that promote the college’s brand, impact, accomplishments, programs, products, opportunities, and events. (Channels include websites, social media, email newsletters, etc., and content may include news briefs, Q&As, social media campaigns and other formats.) Manages the college’s editorial calendar. Works to ensure consistency of messaging and adherence to the brand voice and written style guide, while ensuring accuracy and appropriateness across all channels. Serve as copy editor for content written by others on the team.Social Media Content Management: Plans, develops, and creates audience-centered daily content on college’s social media channels. Stays up-to-date with the latest trends, technologies and applications on social media and looks for ways to enhance and expand the college’s digital reach and audience engagement.Measurement of content performance: Conducts user tests and/or interviews to collect qualitative data on how our content is performing, analyzes results for insights and suggests changes to better serve our key audiences. Reviews and analyzes quantitative data from Google Analytics and social media management tools to measure on how our content is performing and implements improvements.Multimedia content creation: Creates and utilizes photography, video, and dynamic storytelling to continually enhance the college’s communications channels, occasionally liaising with freelance photographers and videographers.Email newsletter content: Builds monthly alumni and quarterly parent email newsletters. Compile and build quarterly parents’ email newsletter.Administrative: Monitors the college’s website to ensure that it is up-to-date and accurate. Compiles and edits alumni notes. Monitors and updates digital slides in our building as needed. Occasionally assists in special events.Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree with at least five years of experience in communications, marketing, public relations, or journalism.At least five years of experience successfully managing, writing, and/or creating content for social media channels and websites as a tool for message delivery and community engagement.Superior writing, editing and proofreading skills: Able to verify factual correctness of information and adhere to editorial policies and guidelines. Able to edit and arrange text and page layouts to optimize readability.Demonstrated ability to use a full range of storytelling methods.Comfort working as part of a small team in a fast-paced environment.Ability to grasp new concepts and adapt to change with ease.Strong oral and interpersonal communication skills: Able to effectively navigate formal and informal communication and decision-making channels. Maintains focus on the topic at hand and adapts content for the intended audience. Is able to review others’ content and provide feedback.Able to maintain focus with frequent interruptions while balancing daily job needs and making progress on medium and long-term projects.Knowledge of the value of self-motivation and initiative; ability and willingness to seek out work and the drive to accomplish goals.Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.Preferred QualificationsWorking experience with web content management systems, email marketing platforms, Adobe Creative Suite, and general design principles.Intermediate photography and/or video production skillsExperience working at a higher education institution or in an arts organization.Familiarity with AP Style.Strong understanding of SEO, Google Analytics and other analysis tools.Driving RequiredThis job requires a class “C” operator’s driver’s license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver’s license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident.
