Description: Job Description:We are accepting applications for an Elementary ESL Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.New employees are expected to attend New Teacher Orientation, which is tentatively scheduled for on August 14th & 15th, and the week of staff professional development beginning August 18th. The first day of school for students is August 25, 2025.An SLCS teacher is responsible for planning, instruction, activities and assessments based on the SLCS curriculum. Teachers are tasked with creating an integrated instructional program that supports an inclusion-based learning approach fostering a safe environment that respects academic and cultural diversity. Additionally, teachers are expected to work together with other teaching and support professionals in a collaborative manner to provide teaching strategies and methods that address a wide range of learning styles, individual needs, interests, abilities, and maturity levels of students.Among other things, the ESL Teacher is responsible for:

• Assisting with the identification of potential ESL students.

• Working collaboratively with classroom teachers to develop and implement developmentally appropriate ESL instruction and activities that integrate, support, and expand the SLCS curricula.Planning and implementing appropriate instructional programs to meet the needs of students in the ESL program.

• Assisting ESL students with gaining an understanding of the American culture and helping students gain an understanding and respect for other cultures.

• Modeling appropriate grammar usage and communication skills.

• Encouraging and allowing students to practice and utilize acquired ESL skills to create projects that connect to the curriculum and other real world scenerios.

• Providing modified assignments and strategies to meet individual student needs.

• Utilizing a variety of teaching strategies to enhance instruction and engage students in activities that promote the understanding of ESL.

• Evaluating student performance and sharing information with the classroom teacher, support teachers, and administration.

Position Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field

• Pennsylvania Department of Education Certification in English as a Second Language PK-12

• Understanding and commitment to inclusive learning

• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment

• Strong research, planning, and organizational skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to positively interact with students to encourage development

• Experience with MS Office, Google Docs
