Current career Postal Service employees are ineligible to apply to this posting.DutiesThe successful candidate will handle a heavy employment caseload primarily before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, and also in Federal District Courts. They will also provide advice to internal clients on a variety of employment matters, including but not limited to those arising under Title VII, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Rehabilitation Act, and the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA).Applicants must have at least three years of experience primarily practicing employment law in federal courts or before the EEOC. Current litigation experience, including discovery, drafting, and filing motions, mediation, and participation in trials and hearings, is required. Experience in handling federal district court employment cases and EEOC administrative litigation should be specifically documented in the applicant’s resume. Applicants with other high volume civil or criminal litigation experience who want to transfer those skills to a heavy litigation practice before the EEOC and federal courts will be considered.Responsibilities * Defends the USPS throughout the EEOC administrative process including in-person and virtual hearings.
RequirementsConditions of EmploymentSPECIAL CONDITION: Qualified applicants must be a current member in good standing of a state, territory of the United States, District of Columbia, or Commonwealth of Puerto Rico Bar Association.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: At least 3 years of experience in legal practice, of which one year of the experience requirement may be met through the completion of a judicial clerkship if completed by the time of hire. The clerkship must be documented in the applicant’s resume.Special Conditions: A RESUME, COVER LETTER, WRITING SAMPLE (Law School Transcript Optional).Qualified applicants must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screening to meet the U.S. Postal Service’s requirement to be drug free. Applicants must also be a U.S. citizen or have permanent resident alien status.Qualifications
