DATE REVISED: 06/2020A Letter of Assurance will be issued for this position.PRIMARY PURPOSE: To support the district’s overall communications and marketing program through effective, professional communications with internal and external audiences. The Graphics and Website Coordinator will promote Irving ISD by executing effective graphic design of the district’s website, publications, marketing collateral, marketing campaigns, and print and digital publications.QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum Education/Certification:Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, communications, technology or other related field.Special Knowledge/Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite software, Windows XP, web content management systems or other industry standard programs in a PC environment
- Knowledge of current trends in the areas of graphic design, web design, social media, communication strategies and aesthetics.
- Demonstrated skills and knowledge in use of electronic communications, web content and design
- Demonstrated skills and knowledge of color, composition, and typography to create professional designs for both web and print.
- Demonstrated skills in writing, proofreading, and editing for proper grammar and punctuation
- Demonstrated skills and knowledge in the use of digital cameras and editing software
- Creative skills in message development and PR/marketing campaigns
- Proficiency in using different file types/resolution, knowing their appropriate application, and how to convert between them.
- Strong customer service, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to meet established deadlines while prioritizing and multitasking
- Strong ability to maintain and organize files
Minimum Experience:Three years professional experience in graphic design.Experience in website management preferred.Experience in school environment or non-profit setting preferred.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Provide desktop publishing and graphic design services for web, digital, social, print and other media as requested and assigned.
- Create new graphics and layouts for print and web use that adheres to existing district graphic standards and identity.
- Apply color management, color correction and image editing.
- Assist in ensuring the continuity of district communications and marketing and adherence to the established branding expectations and standards.
- Manage and maintain district website, including but not limited to homepage, departmental pages and campus sub sites.
- Design and test user interface.
- Work with department and campus contacts to create, develop and document web site requirements.
- Provide day-to-day process management and assistance of website organization and content.
- Train district employees as needed to ensure the integrity and efficiency of communications.
- Assist in maintaining the continuity of district forms.
- Digitize multiple hard copy documents to compile and upload.
- Write with clarity and accuracy for use online and in print.
- Assist with events, special projects, and specific communications as assigned.
- Serve as photographer for events, publications and presentations as assigned.
- Maintain contact database and periodically check for accuracy.
- Utilize emerging trends and technologies to develop effective and unique communication.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
WORKING CONDITIONS:Physical/Mental Demands: Ability to maintain emotional stamina while assisting with multiple projects, programs and events. Ability to meet deadlines. Frequent in-district and occasional out-of-district travel. Occasional prolonged and irregular hours. Prolonged sitting, repetitive hand motions, lifting and carrying 10 to 15 lbs., walking, stooping and bending.Safety: Perform all duties in a safe and responsible manner.
