- In order to be eligible to receive additional pay for working in our summer learning programs, your work calendar must show non-scheduled days for the dates of the summer program you are applying to. Please upload your approved work calendar in the jobs portal as part of your application to be a summer learning principal. Your work calendar can be found in your informedK12 account.
to download, fill out and submit your work calendar in informedK12. Your current supervisor must sign off on the work calendar in the informedK12 platform in order to show the members eligibility to work summer.
- Because the summer session crosses the fiscal year, summer employees will have to be sure to reflect their summer work days in July as “non scheduled days’ for their 25-26 work calendar. The summer office will support this process once the 25-26 Work Calendars go live.
JOB DESCRIPTIONRole Overview:As a SummerBOOST Teacher, you will provide daily math and literacy instruction, using the i-Ready platform and SIPPS curriculum. Your role focuses on targeted, small-group instruction to help students meet individualized goals and prepare for the next academic year.Key Responsibilities:
- Instructional Excellence:
- Deliver daily SIPPS and i-Ready-based lessons aligned with student learning goals.
- Use formative assessments to monitor progress and adapt instruction.
- Collaborate with instructional coaches and TSAs to implement best practices.
- Communicate weekly with families about student progress and share home engagement strategies.
- Use program-provided tools (e.g., SIPPS trackers, i-Ready resources) to involve families in learning.
- Professional Collaboration:
- Participate in weekly PLCs for planning and data discussions.
- Attend foundational PD sessions to align with program goals.
Qualifications:
- Valid teaching credential with experience in elementary literacy and/or math instruction.
- Familiarity with i-Ready, SIPPS, or similar educational platforms preferred.
- Strong ability to collaborate and engage families.
- Create a positive, achievement-oriented, and structured learning environment that motivates and supports students
- Execute daily instruction responsibilities, including lesson plans and connecting students with resources.
- Provide feedback to students and families regularly share their progress toward their goals
- Design and implement subject-relevant curriculum
- Follow and use grade and subject matter appropriate curriculum
- Exhibit and utilize effective classroom management techniques
- Use culturally relevant pedagogy
- Design and implement differentiated instruction and assessments for various skill levels and learning types
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
- Valid California Credential authorizing service in applied position
- Training and experience in the specific programs are required
- Must be proficient in standards-based instruction and assessment Demonstrate ability to motivate at-risk youth
Please note that selected candidates will be assigned based on program needs. Selected candidates are expected to commit to the program for the duration of the assignment. Offer and continuation of employment is dependent upon level of student enrollment and attendance. Notice of employment will be sent to the selected candidates. Qualified personnel from within the district will be considered for placement. Per OEA contract Article 23.3.3.3, unit members will not be selected for more than two consecutive years. Should no qualified applicants apply, unit members may serve for more than two consecutive years.
